Training for Europe : ACTIVacting Youth!
Training for Trainers in non-formal learning for Civic Participation

Berlin , 1-9 March 2008

This project is a follow up from the previous Training Seminar Training for Europe: Don't wait for others, do it! organized by Citizens of Europe in Belgrade, Serbia in May 2006. There, representatives of the partner Organizations identified common problems related to the primary topic of raising awareness on the importance of civic participation among youngsters. They pondered the possibility of developing a common programme on that topic that could be simultaneously developed at local level in all the participating countries. Later, two more partners organizations joined the project due to their interest in this thematic and their similar approach to it.

All partners Organizations have previous experience in non-formal education and they are willing to develop it at local level, for example in schools. The project will allow experience and knowledge sharing among them while delivering methods that will help developing activities and methodologies in the framework of non-formal education that can be further implemented by the participants at local level but according to a commonly agreed and adopted programme.

All involved partners identified the need for an international training where trainers from all organizations will get together to develop a common strategy and methodology for the workshops, which shall be later carried on at local level (e.g. in schools).

It was also stressed that the outcome of this training shall be used for more extensive future cooperation. In this sense, the training will also help strengthen this international cooperation on civic education by bringing the trainers together.
